A Practical Sanskrit Dictionary: With Transliteration, Accentuation, and Etymological Analysis Throughout
Introduction
The dictionary reflects a philological approach characteristic of early twentieth-century Sanskrit studies. Classical Sanskrit forms constitute its principal body, but Vedic vocabulary and accents are included where useful, and comparisons are occasionally made with cognate Indo-European forms. The introductory apparatus also explains the transliteration and accent systems and gives guidance on the alphabetical arrangement and abbreviations employed throughout the dictionary.
