Introduction
This collection presents the first fifteen Wheel Publications as a coherent body of Buddhist learning, beginning with Piyadassi Thera’s exposition of the Seven Factors of Enlightenment and extending through doctrinal, ethical, meditative, comparative, and philosophical themes. The volume discusses mindfulness, investigation of Dhamma, energy, rapture, tranquillity, concentration, and equanimity as essential factors leading toward insight and liberation. It also introduces the Buddha’s teaching, the practice of loving-kindness, the Four Sublime States, the Kālāma Sutta’s emphasis on inquiry, the doctrine of anattā, the meaning of Nibbāna, dependent origination, rebirth, and Buddhist ethics for lay life. Several essays broaden the scope by comparing Buddhism with Vedānta and placing Buddhist thought in dialogue with modern science and rational inquiry. Taken together, the work functions as a compact library of early Buddhist thought, offering both practical guidance for spiritual cultivation and conceptual foundations for the study of Theravāda doctrine.
