Introduction
The book begins by outlining the extraordinary qualities of Lamdre, explaining that the path and its result are inseparable and that practice itself becomes the means through which realization is gradually actualized. It then introduces the Four Authenticities—valid teaching, valid teacher, valid transmission, and valid experience—as the criteria by which Lamdre is authenticated as a living Buddhist lineage. The life of Mahāsiddha Virūpa is presented as the foundational source of the Lamdre transmission, followed by an overview of the Lamdre system and its emphasis on transforming perception, obstacles, faults, and ordinary experience into the path. Subsequent chapters discuss the Vision of Experience, Pure Vision, causal tantra, the Hevajra initiation, the nature of mind, and the role of the teacher in Vajrayāna practice. The book also gives substantial attention to discipleship, the responsibilities of students, the importance of moral discipline, and the need for proper preparation before entering tantric practice. Its later sections introduce subsidiary practices such as illusory body, dream yoga, clear light, bardo, and rebirth, before concluding with the result of the path.
