On Buddhism

The book is divided into three parts. Part One, “On What I Think about Buddhism,” includes chapters on the “inside” and “outside” of religious organizations and the need to open the self to the world. Part Two, “On the Modernization of Buddhism,” discusses modernization and the limits of Western individualism. Part Three, “On Conscience,” examines human relations, self-certainty, ethical responsibility, and the inner ground of religious authenticity.
