Introduction
The book follows the thirty-two traditional sections of the Vajra Sūtra, beginning with the Buddha’s daily conduct at Śrāvastī and Subhūti’s inquiry into how Bodhisattvas should dwell and subdue their minds. The main chapters unfold the doctrine of non-dwelling, showing that giving, cultivating, teaching, and realizing must be practiced without attachment to marks. It explains that the Bodhisattva liberates beings without grasping the notion of beings, accumulates merit without clinging to merit, and understands Dharma without fixing Dharma into conceptual categories. Later chapters deepen the teaching by examining the unreality of self, the purity of mind, the non-obtainability of awakening, the formlessness of the Dharma body, and the illusory nature of conditioned phenomena. The work consistently presents the Vajra Sūtra as a method for cutting through false thinking and realizing prajñā, where the practitioner moves beyond dualistic views of existence and non-existence into the Middle Way.
