Introduction
The main content is organized into seven chapters. Chapter I, “What the Buddha Discovered,” explains the Buddha’s awakening, the Four Noble Truths, the five aggregates of clinging, the absence of a permanent soul, and the psychological roots of suffering. Chapter II, “The Second Noble Truth,” examines craving, attachment, desire, and the mental conditions that produce continued suffering and rebirth. Chapter III, “Karma and Rebirth,” presents the law of moral causation, the continuity of existence, and the relationship between volitional action and future experience. Chapter IV, “The Third Noble Truth,” discusses the cessation of suffering, Nibbāna, and the possibility of freeing the mind from greed, hatred, and delusion. Chapter V, “The Fourth Noble Truth,” explains the Noble Eightfold Path as the practical framework for liberation through right understanding, ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom. Chapter VI, “Developing the Mind,” focuses on meditation, mindfulness, concentration, insight, and the disciplined training of consciousness. Chapter VII, “Using the Dhamma Wisely,” shows how Buddhist teaching should be applied in daily life with balance, responsibility, self-understanding, compassion, and practical discernment.
