Women in the Ministry of Jesus

The book is organized into five main chapters. Chapter I, “Women and their Roles in Palestine,” establishes the social and religious background by examining women in marriage and family, women in religion, and women as witnesses, teachers, and leaders. Chapter II, “Women in the Teaching of Jesus,” studies the physical family, women in Jesus’ parables, female imagery in judgment sayings, and Jesus’ verbal attitudes toward women. Chapter III, “Women and the Deeds of Jesus,” analyzes stories of help and healing and evaluates Jesus’ attitude toward women as reflected in his actions. Chapter IV, “Women in the Ministry of Jesus,” focuses on Mother Mary as Jesus’ disciple, Mary and Martha, women who followed Jesus, and the place of women in Jesus’ ministry. Chapter V presents conclusions and implications.
