Introduction

Sāṅkhāyana-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Introduction: Discusses the text’s connection with the Ṛgveda, the Bāṣkala recension, the Kauṣītaki tradition, the authorial name Suyajña Sāṅkhāyana, manuscript evidence, relation to the Śrauta-sūtra, and later additions. Sāṅkhāyana-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Translation: Presents domestic rites including the establishment of the sacred fire, new and full moon offerings, marriage rites, rites for conception and pregnancy, birth ceremonies, naming, first feeding, tonsure, initiation, Vedic study, daily fire service, Vaiśvadeva offerings, guest reception, return from studentship, house rites, ancestor rites, seasonal observances, and expiations. Āśvalāyana-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Introduction: Introduces the text as a domestic ritual manual of the Āśvalāyana school, with attention to its relation to Ṛgvedic tradition and household ritual practice. Āśvalāyana-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Translation: Gives rules for marriage, domestic fire, birth and childhood rites, student initiation, Vedic recitation, offerings, guest rites, ancestor ceremonies, and household observances. Pāraskara-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Introduction: Discusses the Pāraskara text as belonging to the Śukla Yajurveda tradition and explains its position among Vedic domestic ritual texts. Pāraskara-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Translation: Contains rules for domestic offerings, marriage ceremonies, pregnancy rites, birth, naming, first feeding, tonsure, initiation, studentship, householder duties, ancestral rites, and other household ceremonies. Khādira-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Introduction: Presents the text as a domestic ritual manual associated with the Sāmavedic tradition and explains its textual relation to other Gṛhya materials. Khādira-Gṛhya-Sūtra — Translation: Provides rules for domestic sacrifices, marriage, birth and childhood rites, student initiation, household duties, offerings to deities, and ritual observances connected with family and social life.
